Convergence Academies, Digital Media Mentorship
The Center for Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP) at Columbia College Chicago, in partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is working with two CPS schools, one elementary, Morrill Math and Science School, and one high school, Tilden Career Community Academy, to develop the Convergence Academy school model. The model supports 21st Century learning by integrating digital media and technology into curriculum, instruction, learning, and culture across an entire school (see more about the model HERE).
As a Digital Media Mentor, I partner with teachers to help integrate digital media in the classroom. At Tilden Career Community Academy I assisted Anastasia Healy and her AP Art Class with projects that utilize college-level Two Dimensional Design concepts. Most of the work was in the classroom, but we took a photography field trip to Navy Pier. At the end of the term they presented their work in a portfolio presentation.
